TALBOT ROAD ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON

John Woodman

The unusual coincidence of a weekend with fine sunny weather after almost two months of dull skies and rain brought out crowds to Blackpool town centre. This merited a brief foray to view the scene at North Station and ongoing work constructing the Holiday Inn complete with terminus.

Above : construction of the new Holiday Inn and restaurant at ground level is well advanced with interior fitting out to follow. This is the view from across Talbot Road facing northwest. Below : the tram terminus within the new complex is also almost finished with a single shelter on the island platform.

Below : looking across Dickson Road from 'Ma Kellys' venue with Sainsbury's in the background on the far right hand side. Overhead power wiring now in place for the tram service.

Blackpool Council's new signage around the North Station development. And Below a perspective on North Station's frontage which has also acquired vinyl designs - probably ahead of the important Conservative Party Spring Conference in two weeks. This will be held in Blackpool's new conference centre just off Church Street. Amazing what a political party conference can achieve !
