Talbot Gateway - Another Perspective

John Woodman

Arrival of delegates and Party leaders for the Conservative Spring Conference being held in the new Blackpool Conference Centre adjoining the Winter Gardens is triggering a spruce up of the area between North Station (Blackpool North) and Church Street. Not noted for any particular heritage or civic buildings, an effort to cover over formerly run down properties has involved recent painting of exteriors and addition of a panoramic image vinyl immediately facing the pedestrian route being taken from the station terminal to the Conference Centre on Leopold Grove.

Below : the large wall vinyl affixed to the side of buildings depicting how the area and site will look in 2022/23 with demolition of old properties and the new dominant red brick Government office structure consolidating existing jobs at Warbreck Hill Road and other sites in Blackpool.

All vinyl panels created for Blackpool Council by Links Signs and Graphics - a local firm which has previously assisted Fleetwood Heritage Trust with vinyl material on Brush Car 290 and Centenary Car 641. Photos by John Woodman March 17 2022
