A momentary 'tweet' by the author captures Standard 147 en route to Talbot Square from Marton Depot prior to entering service as a Promenade 'Extra' being passed by a Royal Oak bound railcoach. The Standard is hotly pursued by a motorbike and sidecar combination complete with luggage of a visitor (and family) heading to their 'digs'. The profusion of greenery along Church Street is a feature sadly now long gone (for the most part). Feeder cables on the overhead wire ensure power supply for this section of the Marton tram route. A 'School of Motoring' driver instruction 'Learner' passes cautiously around the bend. Two of the then fashionable 'scooters' are in the view. Photo : copyright John Woodman 1960
