Absent Friends

The stringent restrictions on venues, events and travel mean that once familiar displays and exhibitions of transport themes are missing from our calendars in 2020. Even Blackpool's tram service in its entirety has been 'suspended for the duration' with strangely empty promenade views devoid of trams young and old. A token reminder of what we are missing during this exceptionally hot summer month :

Slightly compact lower deck on Hong Kong double deck trams - with traditional facing bench seating.

Full load for 'Baby Grand' journeys it seems.

Wallasey Corporation Motors in its 'sea green' paint job and ornate transfers.

An impressive 1930s paint styling on a MCTD single deck bus.

The first UK municipal Leyland Atlantean happily preserved on the Wirral in Wallasey Corporation colours. All photos by John Woodman on a glorious sunny day in 2016 at the spectacular Open Day event that year. Below : a close encounter with the Wallasey Atlantean.
