Talbot Square Gets A New Look

The structural work on the former Yates Wine Lodge key site between Talbot Road and Clifton Street (named for local worthies in the 19th Century when one touched one's forelock to socially superior beings!) - is nearing completion. And what an impression it is making to the town centre's civic space. Dominating even the Town Hall, itself badly in need of a lot of tlc, the newbuild will forever change the look of Talbot Square, particularly when trams start to pass by en route to and from North Station.

Clifton Street takes on a whole new look with the new hotel structure now nearing completion facing on to the Square.

Whilst facing the new hotel - Blackpool Town Hall needs its own facelift. Botanic content appearing on the upper drainage fittings being but one obvious example of continuing structural neglect on the part of the Council. Progress Not in 2019.

The less said about the condition and external treatment to adjacent Clifton Hotel operated by a national brand IBIS - the better. An absolute disgrace to any town centre, especially a leading resort like Blackpool. Hence absence of images of this property lest they offend readers.
