Definitely Not Starr Gate

Wrong fleet colours (closer to Glasgow Corporation) no left hand running, but the destination blind (a real one this time - please note Peter) gives the game away. Both Boston MBTA and its Mattapan line; and the Girard Avenue line in Philadelphia operated by SEPTA still host rejuvenated PCC Cars, now complete with air conditioning and kept in immaculate condition. A nice way of using heritage trams in actual regular service for the benefit of the travelling public. San Francisco, Memphis and New Orleans are a close third, fourth and fifth for avid enthusiasts traversing the United States wanting to sample vintage trams = outside of museum and heritage lines.

A neatly tended turning circle less the overgrowing shrubbery but the poles are kept up to standard with regulation dark green paint - (lessons to be learned on the Fylde coast). Below : Elsewhere in New England - the National Park at Lowell, Mass with its historic cotton mills from the 1850s comes complete with a working visitor streetcar line. The trams are actually newbuild replicas by the US firm GOMACO. Here we see world travelling tram guru, Derek Redmond, guiding 1602 across one of the various road crossings in the Park. He is accompanied by the Motorman (not driver) complete with a very impressive beard. Photos courtesy of the Redmond family taken last week.
