2018 Marton Book Post Free

The revised and expanded edition of 'Tribute to Marton Trams 1901 -1962' will be published later in April. ALL Advance Subscriptions received up to April 10th online through the Tramtalk Shop; or by post to 15 Brooklyn Avenue, Blackpool FY3 7DP will receive the title postfree. Thereafter postage of £2.90 will be applied to all orders received online (or by post). The new edition involves 144 Pages plus Covers and will retail at £29.00. It is being printed in a limited press run. The title includes pages featuring photographs taken by Colin MacLeod who lived alongside the tramway on Whitegate Drive.


Rigby Road Publishing is now giving attention to the special Blackpool bus album due for publication later this year 'Blackpool's Buses in Transition 1921 - 2018'. The photographic survey of Blackpool Corporation Tramways, Transport and Blackpool Transport Services Ltd. vehicles from the very first route opening between Thornton and Cleveleys i 1921 and features formal and informal images of most of the vehicles operated from Rigby Road. It will not cover parallel tram developments. Price and details will be announced during the summer. Expected publication in October 2018.

Thereafter 'Fylde Coast Tramways 1910 - 1919' will be next in the series of decade reviews which began with 'Municipal Transport in Transition - 1930s'. The subsequent titles covering the 1940s 'Municipal Transport in War and Austerity' and 'Municipal Transport Heyday' dealing with the 1950s are all still in print and available online from the Tramtalk Shop; as well as in Blackpool at the Promenade Visitor Centre, Yate's Collectibles on Waterloo Road ; and Toys2Save shop opposite Cleveleys Tram Station.


Blackpool's municipal transport operation (both buses and trams during the 1920s and the 1960s are further titles in this series and expected to appear 2020/2021. They will complete this compendium of specialist books on the resort's evolving transport scene - which has many more radical changes pending. The new titles will all be to similar format and size.

Tribute to Rigby Road Works 2009 - 2019 (Volume Five) will now be published to coincide with the opening of the new tramway extension to Blackpool North. It will cover operation of the tramway prior to, during and after the upgrade work to light rail plus of course launch of the new tram service on Talbot Road.


Tribute to Rigby Road Works Volumes 3 and 4 covering BTS management years of Tony Depledge (1986-1999) - Volume Three: and of Steve Burd (2000- 2009) - Volume Four are planned post 2021.


And of course our ever popular calendars produced in support of the Fleetwood Heritage Leisure Trust with emerging plans for an important tram exhibition, complete with tourist running line, as integral part of the Wyre Dock regeneration development.
