Discussions in recent months with a Fylde professional engineer have resulted in agreement to make Balloon Car 726 the subject of a long term restoration project.

The tram will undergo a detailed inspection of its condition 'as is' prior to its relocation to covered facilities where phased renovation work can take place. Options on the Fylde coast are now being looked at in 2015 for this purpose.

The Trust will relinquish ownership of 726 so that private funding can be solicited by the new owner from 2016.  The strategic arrangement calls for 726 to revert to its original fleet number (263) and appearance for public display on completion.

It is the second of the Trust's trams to be subjected to major renovation by qualified resources, Brush Car 284 being the first. The Trust will shortly be turning its attention to initiatives involving Jubilee Car 761 as a further objective this year.
