Colours on the Prom

A remarkably warm and sunny morning saw Colin MacLeod take advantage of the weather to carry out housekeeping on the roof of Centenary 641 which has stood through winter and summer extremes at the Pleasure Beach. Essential weatherproofing is needed at some points which Colin was attending to. The tram's bogies got another coating of black paint in recent weeks to offset the seaspray laden showers, together with salt and sand that tend to discolour external surfaces. As Blackpool's once cream painted tram fleet can attest to. Below : Colin peers over the roof of Centenary 641 from his housekeeping chores.

Catch 22Bus now has a 2018 green and blue fleet livery double deck vehicles serving the 'Coastliner' seafront route which runs as far as St Annes. An example above whilst one of BTS Driver Training Tridents passed by in its Palladium branding. A new entry in the tram fleet sponsor stakes is 'JD Sports'. Their somewhat sombre black and cream branding with no nonsense front logo showed off its look this morning for the first time. Like the 'Pretty Pink Thing' duo the JD Sports format is free of window vinyls and is a thankful improvement in this regard. Below : a brief glimpse as it passes by 641

No mistaking whose company sponsors this tram - but the design does not necessarily flatter its moving platform. All Images : John Woodman
