Visitors to Wyre Dock and more
In addition to transforming trailer T7 for a possible new role next year the Trust was visited by a Dutch enthusiast from Den Haag keen to see its Fleetwood collection. He was joined by two Leeds enthusiasts who similarly were intrigued by the Trust's work and took the opportunity to politely 'knock on the gate'.
Not quite ready for a heritage tour - Brush Car 637 is the backdrop to intrepid visitors at the Trust's store of hidden treasures on Sunday. Note the weeds - due to Council cut backs....
Armed with some impressive photographic equipment they ensured their visit was comprehensively recorded. Also at work on Brush Car 637 - its Owner was engaged in securing new roof covering on the tram - having travelled to Blackpool for the weekend events and chance to complete weatherproofing of this survivor.
The tram will be moved early next year and the Owner is looking for an alternative
home in the Midlands, ideally where sustained restoration work can be carried out.
A suitable storage location is now being sought.
Elsewhere of course Blackpool was humming with bus and tram enthusiasts drawn by the elaborate programme of events and turnout of vehicles over the weekend. All marking the thirtieth Anniversary of Blackpool Transport Services Ltd. Well attended tours and Rigby Road visits ensured it was a must visit weekend in this year's transport heritage Calendar.
Promenade traffic with the backdrop of a well filled tramcar heading north - in this case Blackpool veteran 31 on loan from the Beamish Museum revisiting its earlier (much earlier) seafront route.
Back to the future on Blackpool Promenade. Restored 680 passes the classic rear open platform on one of Blackpool Corporation Transport's PD3s from the 1960s.
Almost fifty years seperates these two bus designs. With 501 resplendent in BCT green and cream - its final livery in the Derek Hyde management years, and 2016 arrival ADL Enviro 410 showing off all manner of bells and whistles, not to mention the dramatic 'new look' for BTS buses.
Similarly another nice contrast between 2015 Mercedes Citaro 552 which launched the Palladium brand, and a resplendent Optare Delta from the 1990s in BTS livery.
A very rewarding gesture by BTS with this contrasting then and now bus display on the Promenade. Much appreciated by enthusiasts.
And of course the trams with their frequent comings and goings laden with enthusiasts from all over the country (and further afield it seems).
