Getting prepped for its launch

One Centenary car is getting more than its fair share of attention prior to its launching in a new permanent role this month. Centenary Car 643 is undergoing a complete repaint in a railway equipment facility in the Midlands - where mainline engines and rolling stock are the normal residents - so this is a first with a tram.

643 is seen within an impressive paint shop far removed from Rigby Road's modest resources - having been stripped and made ready for a new green and cream rendering. The project is entirely a private initiative.

643 - a long way from Broadwater and awaiting attention in this railway equipment paint spraying shop. Wonder how it will look when its finished ? Not too long to go in a marvellous gesture for a social and educational cause.
