2C OR NOT TWOC

Nearly twelve years ago Blackpool Transport launched a new service that connected the communities of Knott End, Preesall, Stalmine and Hambleton - all 'Over Wyre' with the Poulton, Victoria Hospital, Blackpool North and then terminating (somewhat oddly) at South Pier. The new route was numbered 2C - in Metro Coastlines parlance 'Line 2C'. A detailed explanatory folder was issued ahead of the new service which ran every thirty minutes using a green and yellow liveried bus from the company's multi branded fleet.

The 2C has survived into 2016 albeit with frequency and timetable being trimmed due to the termination of Lancashire County Council subsidies on several rural and non profitable routes. Blackpool Transport now furnish the service with double deck vehicles as well as their 'Solo' vehicles - making a sharp contrast for waiting passengers in the narrow country roads of 'Over Wyre'.

A very different fare system was available in the first year of operation with Blackpool's transport management testing out this initial service to the far northern tip of the Fylde coastline. The buses terminating at the car park looking on to the River Wyre and the Knott End Ferry slipway.
