OH WE DO LIKE TO BE BESIDE THE SEASIDE !

The Trust's Fleetwood storage site was kept busy today with the arrival of two of the former Merseytravel quartet from their sojourn in Knowsley near Liverpool.

By agreement with the new Owner of the four Blackpool trams (two Brush Cars and two Trailers) the FHLT are helping in a practical way with the 'rescue' of these

exiles which were in danger of being disposed of for scrap following Merseytravel's decision to place the trams for sale earlier this year. Whilst some interest was shown, the only meaningful bid came from a private individual working with the Trust. A requirement in the sale was the removal of all the trams from their Knowsley home within a short timeframe.

Working with the Buyer the Trust made immediate arrangements for alternative storage at Wyre Dock.

The heavily modified fifth car stored under cover at Pacific Road in Birkenhead was acquired by Peel Developments - the major Northwest company responsible for the extensive Wirral Waters scheme.

625 aka 288 finally comes home to Fleetwood, its home port. This was the very first 'Brush' car to be fitted with the single blind destination styling in the

1950s. A nonchalant Colin MacLeod is evidently busy supervising something!

Below : Trailer 687 (T7) very much stripped internally but still retaining its large cab windscreens - having been left out of the final upgrades in the Steve Burd era. It remains in the livery of the 1980s and early 1990s.
