WE'RE COMING HOME ...

THE TRUST AIDS IN RECOVERY OF THREATENED TRAMS

Merseytravel’s decision to dispose of the five ex Blackpool Transport trams it acquired in 2010/11 found a saviour in the form of a local transport professional - Matt Lodge.

Working with the FHLT, Matt purchased the four cars stored at Knowsley in a deal which will see the trams returned to the Fylde coast shortly. Two Brush rail coaches and two trailers are intended for separate projects. The Trust is taking up ownership of former T7 (687) for storage and eventual display.  Fellow trailer T1 (681) is being held for use by a Social Disability Centre in Blackpool.

One of the Brush cars will be used as a source of spare parts for Matt’s projects, and those of other interested groups. The second Brush car is to be retained for workshop skills training use in Fleetwood in a restoration project involving local organisations.

Any Group with interest in components from a Brush car - including bogies and motors should now get in touch with the Trust.

Matt Lodge is pictured with Stephen Hampshire of Merseytravel at the completion of contract signing in May.
